New EPA/CARB Website Project for Mitsubishi
January 2002
print page

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) have enacted new regulations that require vehicle manufacturers to provide electronic distribution of technical information regarding vehicle emissions systems to third party auto repair shops through the Internet. These regulations will take effect on January 1, 2003. ITresources is developing the web site for Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America (MMSA) to satisfy the requirements of the EPA and CARB regulations. ITresources, working closely with Mitsubishi clients, is developing the web site according to MMSA specifications that will provide the required information to any interested party. The site will include both free content and content that requires a subscription. The project for development of this site is referred to as the MMSA EPA/CARB Website Project.

The MMSA EPA/CARB Website will have e-commerce functionality and will process real-time credit card transactions with a financial institution. This will provide customers with instant paid subscription access to the chargeable content on the site. Other functionality will include a Global Search, Technical Service Bulletins, Recall Information, and Service Campaigns. Pop up interfaces will be developed for access to descriptions and rental information for Immobilizers, Scan Tools and Emission Control Units.

ITresources was selected by Mitsubishi for this project because of its strong Project Management and Technical Skills, and Automotive Business Experience. Additionally, ITresources met the qualification of having significant expertise with MMSA's mandated technical environment of using IBM's WebSphere application server, Universal Database and VisualAge for Java.
